On a lesser note....
Oh my god, I'm 99.9% sure this will suck.

Disney, stop messing up a good thing. :/

Avatar
I have just watched, with the lovely [info]kh1369, the most epic, thrilling, awesome, mind-blowing thing ever.

This may be known to you folk as the Avatar finale.

We sat in stunned silence for minutes after it was over. There were just no words, no possible way to verbally describe the way we felt right then.

As Katie put it, it was all we were expecting and more.

Avatar, I think, has ruined all subsequent tv series for me. Heck, even just ANY future thing I may get obsessed with.

In my mind, this is greater than Star Wars, and Harry Potter. And Lord of the Rings. And anything else I am forgetting. While I would never stop liking those things, Avatar just transcends all of that.

I truly think that there is just nothing in this world capable of measuring up to Avatar. Ever.

Thinking about it that way makes me a little sad, so I try not to. Instead, when I think if Avatar, I am really just thinking about how awesome, and epic, and love it is.

It makes me dislike Nickelodeon even more for not giving it the attention it deserves.

It makes me so excited for the live action movies, but worried as well - because how can this epicness POSSIBLY be captured by live action? The effects had better be damn convincing, is all I have to say.

And it just makes me love the creators for bringing us this series.

The resolution made me feel so satisfied. But I'm also not ready to be done with Aang, and Zuko, and Toph, and Sokka, and even Katara though I find her mildly annoying.

So basically, I can't wait until the season 3 box set comes out in mid-September. :D :D :D

I will be re-watching the entire series (boy, it will be strange going back to the beginning, knowing where they all end up) and it will be fantastic and epic and love.

<333

Thank you, Avatar.

Still in shock and awe over the epic tennis match.

Less importantly, my birthday was very nice, I saw some friends and I got stuff and there was Rita's. :D

The big thing was my grandparents giving me a digital camera. I've like, entered the technology age or something now, guys. :D

Oh my god, I've been watching Wimbledon Men's Finals all day, and I think I've had a heart attack several times by now...

EDIT: OH MY GOD what an epic match. O_O EPIC. I can't believe it. WOW.

(I'm happy for Nadal, but gaaaah, I'm so sad for Federer. He's still my favorite.)

(Will make a birthday post later ;) Thanks to all of you who wished me a Happy Birthday :))

Meme stolen from the f-list...
The Big Read reckons that the average adult has only read 6 of the top 100 books they've printed. Well let's see.

1) Look at the list and bold those you have read.
2) Italicize those you intend to read.
3) Underline the books you LOVE.
4) Reprint this list in your own LJ so we can try and track down these people who've read 6 and force books upon them ;-)

List under here )

Get Smart
Oh man, Get Smart was so awesome, guys.

It definitely did justice to the tv series. I was cracking up the entire time. It was so great. I saw it with the (college) roommate, and both of us had grown up watching the show, and we both just loved the movie so much. I need to see it again!

And Steve Carell... you are also love. :D

Get Smart makes my life.

HnG LOVE
OH MY GOD GUYS, I am so ridiculously proud of myself right now because, after much trial and error, and much toiling over google, I figured out how (using my shiny new laptop's dvd burner) to BURN DVDS FOR THE HIKARU NO GO FANSUBS. WIN! WIN WIN WIN!

:D

(Come on now, seriously. Of course when I determined I was getting a new laptop that would have a dvd burner, of COURSE I would use it to make Hikago or Tenipuri dvds. Whoever didn't see that coming clearly does not know me. :D)

What I did over my summer vacation memorial day vacation, in which I had actually somewhat of a life:

Thursday: Saw Indiana Jones. As I mentioned before, it was love, and SHIA was SO MUCH LOVE.

Friday: Went down to the Carnegie to see their International exhibition (where they pull in many international artists - hence the name - for this show every couple of years. It began as an annual show in 1896. I actually looked through an original catalogue from that year, to find some information that my boss needed at work. It was awesome.) This show was kinda... okay. I mean, there were a few impressive works, but a lot of it felt like, for the love of God, why would you subject the rest of the world to this? But, anyhow.

Saturday: Went to Emily's graduation party! Yay, congratulations Emily! It was good seeing everybody there. :)

Also I finally gave in and BOUGHT A NEW LAPTOP. It is an hp pavilion and it is so shiny and sweet and awesome and I love it so. My old computer had 448 mb of ram, and 55 gig of disk space. This new one has FOUR GIG of ram, and 250 gig of hard drive space. It's like, omg I don't know what to do with the speed!! :D

Sunday: Was actually when I picked up my new laptop. It took the rest of the day to transfer all my files over. Also I saw some friends from St. Vincent, some of whom I haven't seen since I graduated a year ago. O_O How fast an entire year can get away from you.

Monday: Spent most of the day setting up the new computer. It does have Vista, which is actually pretty shiny so far. Ran into some minor problems... google was definitely my friend several times over today. But, whatever. Got it figured out. Guess it's part of getting used to a new OS.

Yay. I keep kinda petting the new computer and I feel like a big dork. But then I remember no one else is around so then I don't feel so bad.

Tomorrow: Work. :( Sigh.

-Also, worked on fic. I KNOW, SHUT UP.

(CRYS WHERE ARE YOU, I MISS YOU, AND ALSO YOU NEED TO GET INTO HIKARU NO GO SO YOU CAN BETA MY FIC. :D)

On my visit to the museum today...
There is a sculpture in the Permanent Collection of the Carnegie Museum of Art by Auguste Rodin. It is entitled The Hand of God.

I'm not even joking.

...Just putting that out there. For anyone else who would have done a double-take upon seeing it, just as I did.

Indiana Jones 4, despite a kind of bizarre ending, was really pretty awesome :D I really liked it. I would see it again.

SHIA + MOTORCYCLE + LEATHER JACKET = EXTREME SHIA LOVE FTW.
